Case Study: Chimney Damper Removal

Remove enough of the fireplace that the wall can be flat.
Remove the mantle, brick veneer, remaining plaster, damper.
Carefully remove supports and install new supports.
Keep the environment clean, protect the floor.
Prepare the wall for dry-walling to hide the old fireplace.
Before starting demolition, the floor is protected with impermeable nylon tarps,
heavy canvas drop sheets, and thick moving blankets are laid on top.
The room is sealed with plastic, and a wet/dry vac is used frequently.
Debris is bagged and taken to a dump bin outside
The mantle is carefully removed, to be used in a cottage.
The brick veneer surround is being removed, bagged.
